At Proxima, we believe gender equality is a necessary foundation for creating a prosperous and sustainable workplace.
The Gender Equality Network at Proxima aims to champion equal opportunities for all employees, and is one of several employee-led networks.
The Gender Equality Network was born in 2020 out of the need for a support network and collaboration platform for Proxima employees to share and educate colleagues on their workplace and world experiences related to gender. After receiving an overwhelmingly positive response from the business, the Gender Equality Network, or GEN as we call it, was born.
GEN provides a positive and supportive environment for employees to share personal experiences, as well as hold and facilitate discussions that foster growth globally for all genders.
The group also works as a networking platform that enables relationship-building outside traditional circles of colleagues and acts as a mechanism to support and promote training and progression for all genders and facilitate career development.
“ We wanted the group to be about so much more than ‘Women in Proxima’. There is such a supportive community of individuals that we are looking to open it up to and we believe the more you work together on an initiative, the more you can lift each other up.”

GEN dedicates its efforts to a new theme each quarter to help focus the conversation and agenda. Recent themes have included mental health and wellbeing, work-life balance, and allyship. To showcase what allyship means to us and to provide advice on how we can all be better allies, the GEN Committee has created this video.
A key pillar of success for GEN is predicated on the fact that we are bringing people of all genders together from across all of our offices, and everyone at Proxima is welcome and encouraged to participate. The committee is rotated annually, and all employees are given the opportunity to nominate themselves to be a committee member.
