At Proxima, we value equality, authenticity, and inclusion and actively encourage the sharing of different perspectives. We foster belonging, acceptance, and mutual respect through open communication and the celebration of diversity. We are committed to removing barriers and equitably empowering all colleagues to thrive and develop in a safe and welcoming environment. Our commitment is unwavering, central to the strength of our business, and at the heart of who we are.
Our employee-led committees help drive our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) agenda forward, arrange events and activities to educate further, inspire discussion and promote DE&I across the business. Learn more about our committees below:
Gender equality network
Our Gender Equality Network (GEN) aims to inform, educate, and champion equal opportunities. The network provides a positive and supportive environment for employees to share personal experiences, as well as hold and facilitate discussions that foster growth globally for all genders and the LGBTQ+ community.
The group also works as a networking platform that enables relationship-building outside traditional circles of colleagues and acts as a mechanism to support and promote training and progression for all genders and facilitate career development.
GEN has hosted a variety of events, produced content, and bought in external speakers to celebrate, explore, and discuss a variety of topics, such as International Women’s Day, allyship and flexible working, the impact of gender on mental health, and the importance of inclusive language.
Committee on racial equality
The Committee on Racial Equality (CORE) was created to enable all employees to have a central support network to help facilitate conversations and educate colleagues on their workplace and world experiences related to race and ethnicity.
CORE provides a positive and supportive environment for employees to share personal experiences, and the small employee-led committee is available for all Proximities to speak to on a one-on-one confidential basis if personal support is required.
CORE has hosted a variety of events since its set up at the start of 2022, with discussions on understanding your colleagues’ experiences, education of Juneteenth, Black History Month, and Asian Heritage Month, and running a sponsored fast on the first day of Ramadan to show solidarity with our Muslim colleagues and to walk in their shoes for a day.
DEI Governance
Committee
Our DEI agenda is created and driven by our people and sponsored at board level by our Chief People Officer. Annually we publish our DEI Framework, which contains the base building blocks to ensure we remain inclusive and become a more diverse and equitable business.
Within the framework are multiple initiatives, focusing on four central pillars of Attraction, Development, Culture and Commitment. The DEI Governance Committee manages the governance towards our goals and objectives. The Committee is made up of volunteers from our GEN and CORE groups as well as members of our People team.
